babbling

Anna has started to "babble" and Greg thinks "dada" should count as her first word...!

pool time!

Summer is finally here! And I'm so happy we live just down the street from our neighborhood pool!
Here are some pics of Anna's first time to swim!

In her fancy new bathing suit!

Snuggled with Aunt Allie!

answered prayers

Ever since Anna's 2 month check-up, her pediatrician has mentioned that the back of her head was a little flat, and recommended sleeping her on her side at night and more tummy time. Well, this little girl LOVES sleeping on her back and would move in the middle of the night to get there, and HATES tummy time, and likes to put up a little fit when put there!

So for a while now, her "flat spot" has become a source of worry for me, especially once the pedi gave us a referral to see a cranial helmet specialist. After MUCH online research and hearing arguments for and against these helmets, I was torn as to what to do.

So this past week, we made the trip to the doctor, and thankfully my wonderful mother-in-law was able to go with me for some support! We were both expecting to go in to hear a doctor try and convince us how important this helmet was and be scared into getting Anna fitted for one. Many of our friends and family knew about my worry and lifted her up in prayer- let me say we serve an awesome God!

I was so anxious when we arrived at the doctor's office, that even the kindness of the office receptionist put me a little more at ease! When we were called back, we were greeted by the nicest doctor who shocked us by saying Anna's head looked like it would round out on its own just by looking at it!

Then she tools some measurements, which Anna did NOT find very fun! But doesn't she look like the cutest little gnome! haha!

Here is the super cool computer image of Anna's head!

After looking at the measurements, the doctor concluded that Anna was actually in the normal range for head shape and a helmet was not necessary! I can't even describe how it felt hearing those words and feeling the stress of worry being lifted!

I know there were many people praying, and I just want to send out a huge thank you! :-)

And now the only thing left to say is.... more tummy time!!!

Sitting Up!

Look who is sitting up on her own! Such a big girl!

Anna's first taste of "big girl food"

I've been waiting patiently for the 6 month mark for when I could let Anna try some "big girl food!" I had it in my mind for the longest time that I would start out with avocados and that she would love it and be on her way to becoming a wonderful, non-picky eater!

We all know what happens to plans!

Here is a video of her first food experience!

Before:                                                                           After:

And this is the next day... not having it one bit!

The good thing is, Anna is gaining plenty of weight :-) and there really is no rush! I think I'll be trying with cereal next time (after a little break) so we will see how that goes!

6 months already!?!?

If I didn't know time was flying by WAY too fast, I sure do know now! I feel as if I literally just blinked and here we are a half a year later!

Look at this big girl!

When you're at Aunt Savannah's house...

you are going to get messy!

I learned a lot of things while watching my nephews this past week!

1. Shaving cream is perfect for making dinosaur mountains and avalanches for unsuspecting race cars.

2. Its equally as fun to wash off all the shaving cream as it is to play in it!

3. Food colored vinegar+ baking soda= a fun science experiment!

4. Making the pizza is much more fun than actually eating it ;-) (no matter how much ranch you give them to dip it in!!)

And #5- These boys just LOVE their baby cousin! She is blessed to have such fun and loving cousins as Tyler and Jack!
