This little piggy...

My culmination conference tomorrow at Sam has been cancelled....due to (duh duh duh)

Swine Flu!

I guess they don't want the student teachers from south Texas around...

Well this has been one crazy week! School cancellation, conference cancellation...

But tomorrow night is Prom night! Garage Prom night! Woo! I can't wait!

My last day of college, and I didn't even know it!

So Monday was officially my last day of "college." After the downpour Monday night and Tuesday morning, Cy-Fair ISD closed schools on Tuesday due to flooding...

Well ever school returned to normal today except for Cy-Creek! In fact everything that could have gone wrong at the school... did!

Lightening struck the school and a transformer blew, totally destroying all power. There was some flooding in hallways, and because of the immense construction, there were many holes in the roof! So school has now been canceled until Monday and Thursday was my real last day.

Now if I was a full teacher, I would be freaking out... its TAKS week and this throws everything off! Luckily, they will not make the students and teachers make up more days in June.

So what a year it has been in CFISD!

Anyways, MY SUMMER HAS BEGUN!

oh and yesterday I got my haircut! I love it and (thank goodness) Greg loves it too :-) Here is a pic!

Gotta love phone pics that make my nose HUGE!

I am very glad I decided to try short hair.... it was worth the leap!

Hmmm maybe with all this new free time, I will post a honeymoon blog? ;-)

taking the plunge...

So I have gotten extremely tired of my thin hair and trying so hard to keep it long, when we all know you must be blessed with thick hair to make that work.

I style it in the morning (or try to) and a couple hours later it is stringy, flat, and ends up being thrown into a pony tail as soon as I get home!

I have tried a couple "short" hairstyles, but I think I haven't gone short enough...
So I think it is actually time to "take the plunge"

Here are a few pics of what I am thinking... something really sleek and mature.

Yea... thats short! Of course I am going to run this by Greg... and I know exactly what he's going to say!
"I like longer hair better, but its your hair!" which is a good response, but its one of those that makes me feel a little nervous about getting it cut!

But this time, I think I am actually going through with it! I might as well try it! Why not?

Let me know what you think!

bear with me...

I need to vent.

MSNBC is the biggest collection of morons. Well, almost.... there is Washington.

I get my news from Fox online, and every once in a while, I click over to cnn and msnbc to see how the left reports "news".
Well, today I think I about had enough when I saw this collection of "stories"

- Obama's foreign policy: Listen more, talk less (oh yea, that will show those terrorists)
- The Mr. Cool presidency turns 100 (days)- seriously? Mr. cool?
- Michelle Obama- "Bo the dog is crazy" (I swear if I hear one more word about that stupid dog....Can he fight jihadists and drill for oil? No. Then nobody cares)
- Poll: Americans high on Obama ( There is some truth in that- you have to be high to even like him... or vote for him)
-Obama- world must resist hatred, racism (Well thank you Barry, that solved all those problems. Thanks for your flowery words.)
-Wedding boom in states with same-sex nuptials (I'm sure leather pants and britney spears cd's have too.)

Well, I think I'm almost done...

I'm pretty sure every news anchor at MSNBC have invested in Pampers because they wet themselves everytime the word "Obama" comes out of there mouths.

I think the network decided to turn lefty-looney after they realized they are the lowest rated news station and they have nothing to loose?

Man, I really needed that!

I'm learning!

With each new day of being a wife, I am learning a lot! I decided I would share a list of random things that I have added to my "pot of knowledge" or I guess "crockpot of knowledge" would be more appropriate? haha I'm such a nerd...

1. Greg expects a big "YAY!" after he finishes playing a song on the piano or he will keep playing the last line over and over again until I do.
2. I found that spreading a weekly cleaning list out over the whole week (except Sunday) my house is always clean and I don't have to cram it all in one day.
3. I have been battling with my crazy wrinkly sheets since we got them, but I'm finding easier ways to keep out the wrinkles... dry on a low heat setting, and listen for the dryer to finish, then rush to put them on the bed!
4. Get as much school work done AT SCHOOL and avoid at all costs bringing it home... that eats up all my time... especially while sitting in front of the TV.
5. Never under any circumstances neglect my BSF lesson... especially when it asks you to read all of Dueteronomy!!!
6. Greg LOVES to hear himself talk, sing, yell... etc. at ALL times of the day :-) haha

Well thats about it for now. I thought that would make for a fun blog post. The dryer just stopped and I need to rush those sheets on the bed!!! :-)

A lovely day for a tea party!

Here are some pics from the tea party in San Antonio my family made a day trip to attend! What an awesome experience and I wish so much that I could have gone! over 9,000 people attended to protest the awfully irresponsible spending going on in Washington and to fight for the future of our children and grandchildren.

My bro and sis!

Ted Nugent

An elderly man who, despite his health concerns, attended to fight for his grandchildren's future.
Some of the signs are priceless...

I love the signs!

Priceless!

Even dogs have more common sense than the looneys in Washington!

Hope you enjoyed the pics!

Free Time? What?

I have free time today??
It actually took me a while to figure out what to do with myself!

No lesson plans (finished at school)
No dinner (Greg wants to give me a break and take me out tonight!)
No cleaning (Did that once I got home and all before 3:00!)

My sewing room has welcomed me with open arms! I'm estatic to get started on a gift for my sister-in-law and her little one on the way! ;-)

But what am I doing on here blogging and wasting my precious time???

Later!

p.s. Today is my dad's birthday! Happy Birthday daddy!

A little bit more catchup!

This past Easter weekend was a blast! My favorite times are when I am with my family, and now that I have two to celebrate with from now on, I got to have double the fun!

Friday started off with a crawfish boil at Greg's aunt and uncles house in Montgomery!

And we met the cutest dog ever! We even contemplated stealing him!

On Saturday my family came over for burgers and.....

Homemade lemonade! I had to take a picture! haha.
My mom also made the BEST peach cobbler and lucky us, Greg and I got to keep the leftovers!

My brother had a nice lounge in the hammock. He's just so photogenic...

And Easter Sunday, Greg and I attended church with my family, and then visited Greg's grandparents and cousins that afternoon. I don't have any pictures from then because I took a 3 hour nap! I still can't believe I did that... oh well, I guess my body was telling me to slow down a bit!

I am so glad I am finding this little time at the end of my day to blog! I really missed it the past month!

Tomorrow, my family is taking a day trip to San Antonio for the Tax Day Tea Party! I wish so bad I could go, but my final student teaching observation is tomorrow. Well, I can't wait to see pictures, hopefully tomorrow shows the looneys in Washington what the American people are feeling!

Later!

Lets rewind!

Time to play blogger catchup!

Rewind to day 1 of our new life together at home! I was so excited to start my wifely duties and make dinner that night, so I took a picture of my preparation...

Greg's all time favorite meal that I have made before is Lasagna. This recipie I got from my mentor teacher at Cy-Creek that the kids had made in class the week before. It is called "mock lasagna" and it turned out very good! In fact, I think I will post the recipie...

Mock Lasagna

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup chopped white or yellow onion (i used white)

1/2 tsp oregano

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp garlic powder

2- 8 ounce cans tomato sauce

1/2- 12 ounce package medium noodles (any noodles will do!)

1 Tbsp maragrine

1 cup cottage cheese

8 ounces cream cheese- softened (i put it in the microwave for 30 seconds- perfect consistancy)

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup chopped green onions (this added a great flavor to the recipie, however I would cut it back to 1/4 cup- its pretty strong)

2 Tbsp minced green pepper

Brown met and white onion; drain. Return meat and onion to skillet; add seasonings and tomato sauce. Simmer 10 minutes. Cook and drain noodles according to package directions. Add 1 Tbsp maragarine to cooked noodles to prevent sticking. In a mixing bowl, combine cotage cheese, cream cheese (heated in microwave!) green onions, and green pepper. Place half of noodles in a greased 8X8 inch pan. Add cheese mixture. Add remaining noodles. Top with meat mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.

** The ingredients may not fit in the 8X8 pan, so you can cut back on the meat topping, cheese mixture or noodles when layering.

This is a wonderful recipie, fairly easy (high school kids managed to do it!) and a cheap meal!

This also freezes WELL so wonderful for leftovers!

Hope you guys enjoy the mock lasagna! That I will always remember as our first meal at home!

Well moving on in the game of blogger catchup...

About a week later, Greg and I decided that we would need a desk to keep our computer at, the printer, all of our files and important papers, and the usual desk items great for cluttering! So we drove on over to Wally World (Walmart) and picked up (well pushed on a cart) a very large, very heavy UNASSEMBLED ( we will get to that later...) better homes and garden wooden desk.

Fitting it into the car was a job in itself... but we met a very nice Walmart employee (quite a rarity) who helped us tremendously! Then getting it into the house... this desk is VERY heavy so after pndering how we could wheel it in the house on a cooler, a suitcase, and a roly chair.... we ended up having to take it in piece by piece... After about an hour or so.... we finally got it in the house, overwhelmed by the amount of work we had ahead of us!

During the next three days, we built this huge desk taking one piece at a time...

The last couple of steps had to be moved into the living room.... Memphis was playing...

Yes, I did use the tools!

And here is our finished project! I love this desk, especially since it was our first "project" together! :-)

Well, I'm glad I was able to get in some catchup blogging! Headlines is on Jay Leno and Greg is calling from the other room! haha! Until (hopefully) tomorrow!

Well so much for my wedding post last weekend! I am just one busy married woman! So busy that part of me feels like its not normal! I haven't watched a full TV show, read a book, surfed the internet.....and I haven't once sat down at my sewing machine!!! From laundry, dinner, dishes, grocery shopping, couponing (or trying to) house work, and of course me being bogged down with lesson planning, I have realized how short the days have become! I couldn't even imagine having kids right now! I am really missing my hobby time...

I know that right now I am still trying to adapt and get used to my new way of life and learn all those time saving tips... so it will get better! Thanks to my 3 day weekend, I think I will even get to try out a new handbag pattern with some new fabric... and maybe read in the hammock! (weather permitting that is)

Even with all the hustle and bustle (and I know it sounds like I am venting!), I absolutely love being married! Being a wife seems like what I was destined to do! (take that feminists! haha) Being able to finally put Proverbs 31 in to full use, I feel like there are now so many more opportunities for me to glorfiy God. Serving my husband and ultimately serving God has been such an exciting journey and its only been 3 weeks!
Now I have to say, Greg makes it so easy to love being a wife. Its like being with my best friend all the time, and I really have never felt so content. :-)

Well, I am typing this blog at school during my planning period, and the time is almost up! Tomorrow I will do my best to get a wedding entry up, I promise! There have been a lot of fun things to post about the past couple weeks, so once the wedding blog is up, I can start on small daily blogs!

Speaking of, my mom has a blog now! http://aspiringannie.blogspot.com/ And its really great! Except everytime I read it, I get a little homesick :-( Oh and I love the "simply savannah.... aspiring annie" similarities!

Its good to be blogging again!
